Professor Prem Rashid (and colleagues) provides here a current aid developed for medical students and junior doctors. He is a prominent academic Urologist, and past President of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand (2021-2023), the peak body for the care of the urinary tract, male sexual and reproductive health. This textbook, Urology Primer is a current aid to medical students and junior doctors to enhance their capacity to care for urological conditions, particularly those relevant to the acute hospital setting. It will also pose an enduring resource in general and specialist practice. The chapters are very practical including excellent images to aid in procedures such as catheterisation and setting up continuous bladder washout that are crucial to ward and emergency department work in Urology.

I am very grateful to my many colleagues who volunteered their time to review the material and, along the way, helped enormously to improve the content of the book.
