Kate Perkins

My name is Kate and I am a Registered Nurse. I joined the Urology team in March 2022 after moving from Sydney with my family.

I have been working as a Registered Nurse since 2009, starting my career in an Emergency Department in Sydney and completing a post graduate certificate in Critical Care Nursing. Once I became a Mum, I began working as a community nurse with a special interest in continence management, catheter changes and wound care before joining a Urology practice in 2017. In the almost 4 years working as a Urology Practice Nurse, I completed my post graduate certificate in Urology and Continence through La Trobe University. I moved back to the hospital system in 2020, working in an acute surgical unit where we regularly cared for urology patients.

I have loved leaving the big smoke for the quieter Port Macquarie lifestyle and my children and I have really enjoyed being a part of our new community. Working as a part of the Urology Centre team has been a wonderful experience, the staff genuinely care for each other as well as our patients. Urology is an area of nursing that I have been drawn to as it is such a fascinating body system. It is a privilege to be involved in working towards a solution to the, sometimes awkward, “below the belt” issues.

Outside of work I love to travel and see our beautiful country with my wonderful children.
