Prof. Prem Rashid

Professor Prem Rashid graduated in Medicine from the University of Western Australia. He then started the Port Macquarie Urology Centre in 1998, having trained in Perth, Adelaide and Cardiff, UK. The Centre has rapidly grown to become a referral centre for urological care.
As a clinical and academic urological surgeon he has written extensively, specialising in ‘patient guide books’ focusing on bladder difficulties and prostate conditions with ‘Prostate Cancer – Your Guide to the Disease, Treatment Options and Outcomes’ now in its 4th edition. It has become a reference book for counsellors who use it in educating men, and their families, when faced with this condition. He has also written ‘Bladder Care – Your Self Help Guide’ and ‘An introduction to Clinical Urology’ for medical students.
His works have been endorsed by the New Zealand Continence Association, Continence Foundation of Australia, Urological Society of Australia & New Zealand, Andrology Australia and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
Professor Rashid has published in peer reviewed medical journals on urological conditions and surgical education, specifically the ANZ undergraduate urology curriculum ‘Urology Primer – an introduction to Clinical Urology’ for use by all medical students, urology nurses and recent graduates – available for free as an e-book in PDF.
He is actively involved in Advanced Urological Training, Accreditation and Education being Chair of the Board of Urology (2012-2014) and is the Surgical Education Specialty Editor of the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery (ANZJS).
He is a Conjoint Professor at the School of Clinical Medicine, The University of NSW and is a past member of the Court of Examiners, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
He is a past President of the Urological Society of Australia & New Zealand, a Paul Harris Fellow (Rotary International) and a Director of the Australasian Urological Foundation (AUF).
He remains appointed to the Professional Standards & Fellowship Services Committee, Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and is the Association Elected Councillor, Urological Association of Asia (UAA).
